Wow, yesterdays article The Race to Beat Google, did not introduce any breakthrough concepts, but was by far, the best articulated “state of search” I have seen in a long time. The Author provided a useful framework to understand some of the emerging search approaches. Perhaps he could have further broken down “vertical search”, into those that have vertical content focus (i.e.; blogs), and those that have vertical industry focus (i.e. travel). As semantic approaches proliferate, deep understanding of the “lingo” of the content consumer (and/or producer) will become increasing important. We live in interesting times….feels to me there is A LOT of search innovation ahead.
